Kathy Horan Young

Kathy Horan Young is an occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings with adults including physical rehabilitation, psychiatry and homecare.
A native of Texas, she earned a BA from Tulane University and a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) from Texas Woman’s University. Kathy currently lives in Charlottesville, Virginia and is a passionate leader in her community whose dedication to helping others has led her to serve as co-founder and president of the Virginia Chapter of the National Autism Association, chairing the first local autism conference with over 200 attendees. She then went on to spend 10 years as her area’s Special Olympics bowling coordinator with over 90 bowlers participating each week during the season and chaperoning 3 trips per year to state competitions. More recently, Kathy established a Myhre Syndrome Parent Support Group on Facebook and co-founded the Myhre Syndrome Foundation in 2019. In her spare time, Kathy loves to travel and enjoy the company of her 3 adult children- Henry, Mary and Anna. Anna was diagnosed with Myhre syndrome in 2014 and is thriving, working and active in her community.
