Dr. Hongmei Mou

Dr. Hongmei Mou is a faculty member at the Mucosal Immunology and Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. Dr. Mou’s research focuses on stem cell biology, tissue regeneration, remodeling, and inflammatory responses in genetic mutation and infection-triggered acute and chronic lung diseases that are common causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Her long-term goal is to set a new paradigm in clinical and translational applications in human lung diseases.
Dr. Mou is also committed to teaching the theory and practice of lung and airway biology research to a large number of undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. She serves as a scientific advisor and mentor to physician fellows in the laboratory. She gives an annual conference to the physicians in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as well as in the Cystic Fibrosis Center in an effort to teach the Massachusetts General Hospital community about stem cell biology, and lung diseases and to integrate science with clinical medicine.
